Why is a genuine copy of Windows important?

Genuine Windows is published by Microsoft, properly licensed, and supported by Microsoft or a trusted partner. Only genuine Windows customers have access to all optional updates and downloads available from Microsoft, which are designed to help you get the most from your PC.

Some dealers now are selling laptops with pirated copies of Windows that are not genuine.  What does this mean for you as a consumer?  If the software is flagged by Microsoft for not being genuine then you would lose all your updates and the protection provided by having genuine software.  You will also be exposed to legal action.

Make sure that any computer you are buying refurbished comes with a brand new Windows Refurbished COA including an activation key to ensure you are protected and supporting genuine software!
